About Sandra
Art is mysterious to me—it comes alive when I don’t know exactly where it’s going. I believe creating art mimics life: both are full of surprises. My art practice has been a path of discovery, and I feel a deep sense of freedom when I’m fully immersed. Working abstractly allows me to let go of self-imposed rules and opens space to explore new ideas using intuition and imagination.
Over the years, I’ve worked as a graphic designer, an advertising art director, and a clinical social worker. Each role has shaped my perspective, but moving to the Hudson Valley in 2020 was a turning point. It became a catalyst for creating art on a more personal level. I started simply—making marks on various papers—then ripping, tearing, and cutting them up, reassembling the pieces into collages. Eventually, I began drawing directly onto the collages and creating standalone drawings.
More recently, I discovered printmaking, a new medium for me, and I'm now incorporating drypoint and monoprints into my evolving practice.
